EDGAR JOE “DINK” RICHTER
November 18,1927 - August 15, 2001

My Dad was born on a small farm in rural south Georgia during a time when times were tough for everyone. I recall his stories of growing up as a boy and how his family made a point of feeding the less fortunate on Sundays at the house on the farm, and of having to resort to hunting local game when times got even worse.
He never graduated high school, dropping out to run the farm and support the family when my Grandfather became ill and subsequently could move about only with the aid of walking canes. A sense of purpose, of caring for his family and all those who needed his help, became deeply ingrained in him and was the driving force in his life.

That life was abruptly ended much too soon after a battle with melanoma.

Dad left the farm shortly after he was married and moved to a larger nearby city to gain work in the construction industry. That work led him to soon start his own company, working long and hard hours to still support his immediate and extended families. He delighted in growing fruits, vegetables, and flowers, which he readily shared with the community. He gave a lot to anyone who asked, to some who didn’t even know him, and to his children. His work ethic still drives me today and his caring spirit shall never be forgotten.

We all lost much when he succumbed to melanoma. Working in the construction business at a time when we did not know the dangers of sun exposure subjected us all to unknown dangers. Dad lost his fight, I myself have had multiple skin cancers removed, but fortunately no melanomas. It is with his same sense of purpose and dedication to those in need that we embark on this journey to offer these products. We HIGHLY encourage EVERYONE to use adequate sunscreen and to care for your skin DAILY.

A portion of the proceeds from every container sold will go the American Cancer Society in honor of my Dad, “Dink” Richter.
